Hi! I'm Daria Hilscher.

I'm an ESL and German language trainer and coach. I help international students and professionals to identify their own language learning goals, and provide guidance and support on their learning journey.

As someone who has walked the walk (I moved to Germany for my Master's after getting a B.A. in German and English Translation Studies and a Teacher's Certificate), I am aware that there are issues with which language learners can struggle even after completing a solid formal language training. This is why I use language coaching to help English and German learners to overcome their personal learning challenges.

How can a language coach support you?

Language coaching is a comprehensive service that is not limited to language teaching.

Identifying your unique language learning goal

In the session, we discuss your situation, what exactly you want to achieve and by when. This goal is flexible and can be adjusted in the learning process.

Creating your personal language learning plan

Depending on how much time you can invest in your learning, what your learning preferences and interests are, we craft out a detailed step-by-step action plan.

Providing informational support

I provide you with tips on learning resources, materials, apps and tools so that you can try out different methods and pick the ones that work best for you.

Organizing continuous self-reflection and assessment

I provide tools for assessment and encourage you to reflect on your learning - all in a safe, stress-free and non-judgemental way.

Keeping you accountable

In case you are very busy - or just prone to procrastination - I can act as your accountability buddy and check on your progress regularly, - as often as every day if you need it!

Individual language coaching (English as a Second Language or German)

Learning blocks, lack of motivation, not knowing where to start, reaching a plateau... you name it! Together we will confront these issues and craft Your Own Learning Plan - and if you wish, I will check on you as often as needed to hold you accountable and make sure you stick to the plan!

Individual preparation for international language tests: TestDaF, DSH, IELTS

International language tests are a challenge, but with enough motivation, a solid learning plan and active support you can rise to it! In order to achieve good results, it is advisable to start the preparation well in advance - ideally at least a couple of months beforehand.
